We have seen too many splits in Hollywood recently. Are breakups between older men and young women just meant to be?
Here is Larry King and Shawn Southwick. The 76-year-old husband and his 50-year-old lady are having a scandalous divorce. We see also the 54-year-old Mel Gibson and his lovely wife, the Russian musician, Mel Gibson, splitting.
What is wrong with those couples that used to be in trend so far? Is this the end of some kind of era?
As we all know, there were always older men hunting beautiful much younger ladies. Of course, there were also younger women searching for older males as well. Since ancient times, man left his wife home while he was wondering around hunting both animals and young females.
OK! Magazine founding editor and author of "101 Fabulous Things to Do Before You're Too Old, Married, or Pregnant has his own point of view regarding this topic: "I don't think it's just an age thing - I think it's an old man ego thing too. One can only imagine [what] these women had to do to keep their old celebrity fellas happy and feeling handsome as their ratings were dropping and their reputations flagging. But I'm sure both Larry and Mel will soon be off into the arms of another young lady... The age difference won't stop them I'm sure."
As for Hollywood couples, I can only say that there is all about this type of relationships becoming some branding. There are too many young women looking for fame and glamour, even if there is just for a short moment. Every old guy here is keeping an eye on the market. Moreover, the young ladies are beautiful. So, why don't they take advantage of it? After all, who does not need someone to cover her back? It seems like all these issues turn out to be a natural mechanism among such couples in Hollywood. What makes the difference? Only the long or short terms, as we see.
