American Idol’s first blind hopeful, Scott MacIntyre, exited the show leaving seven contestants vying for the title of America’s next singing sensation. During the performance round, MacIntyre sang The Search Is Over by Survivor while playing a guitar for the first time since he was used to play piano in the previous rounds.
With him in the bottom group were Anoop Desai, who sang True Colors from Cyndi Lauper’s second album, and Lil Rounds who performed What’s Love Got to Do With It by Tina Turner. As the blind singer was headed home, Paula Abdul said, “Scott, you're an inspiration to the entire world. You're a classy gentleman, and we love you.”
The result show’s guest performers were Flo Rida and former Idol contestant Kellie Pickler. The former sang his hit single, Right Round, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 6 consecutive weeks, and the latter sang her current single, Best Days of Your Life, off her second album.
