Norman Jewison, award-winning director of In the Heat of the Night and Moonstruck, shared his insights about Hollywood these days. He said that the movie industry has become an integral part of the world but there is something missing in it.
He added that the art in filmmaking is almost gone saying, "Art missing -- a lot of it. When you look back 15 years at any type of awards that are given, you will find that there are very few major Hollywood films honored. I don't know how to change that."
Moreover, he discussed the independent films that still cast popular stars for a marketing leap but with a lower budget which resulted to lesser quality storytelling. "The film should be the star. The story should be the star. Maybe we've lost our confidence in stories," he said.
