Drew Peterson Charged with Murder
Drew Peterson Charged with Murder

Friday, May 8 2009

by Joe Halls

Former police sergeant Drew Peterson was arrested on Thursday at a traffic stop in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The arrest was due to charges of murdering Kathleen Savio, Peterson’s third wife.

In 2004, Savio's body was found in an empty bathtub. During that time, authorities believed that it was an accidental drowning. The ruling was later changed to a staged homicide. Currently, the grand jury are also still inspecting on other possible charges regarding the disappearance of Peterson's fourth wife in 2007.

Andrew Abood, Peterson's lawyer, said in a statement, "Although he is disappointed with the decision of the state, he looks forward to the opportunity to once and for all prove his innocence in a court of law."

He said that his client is innocent in spite of the "rumor and innuendo that has circulated regarding the unfortunate death of Kathleen."
