Prince of Persia, the most popular movie inspired by a video game

Although its earnings are well below what would have hoped those at Disney, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has become the movie inspired by a video game with highest-grossing of all time.

The Production with a budget of $ 200 million, reached 295 million dollars worldwide, beating the 2001 financial success of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. It had received the total amount of 274 million dollars worldwide.

There are chances that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be part of a sequel, just like its predecessor. Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life was launched in 2003, but the total amount received was lower: $156 million.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton has signed a contract for a trilogy, 2013 could bring us Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, inspired by the second series of the game developed by Ubisoft.
