Jay Leno Hospitalized

Jay Leno Hospitalized

Friday, April 24 2009

by Joe Halls

Jay Leno missed The Tonight Show for the first time in 17 years. The comedian canceled the taping of the show when he checked into a certain hospital in Los Angeles. The representatives of Leno did not disclose either his illness or the location of the hospital.

NBC's statement stated, "Jay Leno is doing just fine. He was kidding around with the hospital staff and running his monologue jokes by the doctors and nurses."

Since the popular host began hosting his show in 1992, he was never absent even once. Reportedly, Conan O'Brien will take over Leno’s time slot starting June 1. Leno, however, will be moving to his primetime show during weeknights.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno debuted on May 25, 1992. It was after Johnny Carson, who hosted the program for 30 years, resigned.
