PresidentBarack Obama fulfilled a promise to his wife Michelle Obama which he made during the campaign period.

In a statement, as reported by the Associated Press, the president stated, "I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished."

After eating at a Greenwich Village restaurant named Blue Hill in Manhattan, the couple went to the Belasco Theatre on 44th Street. There, they enjoyed an August Wilson play, Joe Turner's Come and Gone. When the show ended, the first couple headed back to Washington.
