Walter Richard Sickert (1860-1942) Impressionist city scapes of London and Venice, portraits, and domestic interiors capture subtleties of tone and light, often with a melancholy air.
Short Biography:
Sickert, in London from 1868, was born in Munich, the son of a Danish painter, and studied art at the Slade School. His work inspired the Camden Town Group in North London; examples include Ennui about 1913 (Tate Gallery, London).
