Walter Crane (1845-1915) was a British artist and designer, mainly known as a book illustrator.

Short Biography:

He was influenced by Willam Morris and became an active socialist in the 1880s.

While apprenticed to W. J. Linton, a wood engraver, he came under the influence of the Pre-Raphaelites.

His book illustration, both for children's and for adult books, included an edition of Spenser's Faerie Queene 1894-1896.
