Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov (1890-1986) was chair of the Council of People's Commissars (prime minister) from 1930 to 1941, and foreign minister (1939-1949), during which period he negotiated a nonaggression treaty with Germany (the Hitler-Stalin pact), and again (1953-1956).
In 1957 he was expelled from the government for Stalinist activities.
