Steve Stephen Biko (1946-1977) was an South African civil rights leader.
Short Biography:
An active opponent of apartheid, he was arrested in September 1977 and died in detention six days later.
He founded the South African Students Organization (SASO) in 1968 and was cofounder in 1972 of the Black People's Convention, also called the Black Consciousness movement, a radical association of South African students that aimed to develop black pride.
