Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986) was a French socialist, feminist, and writer, who taught philosophy at the Sorbonne university in Paris 1931-1943.
Short Biography:
Her book "Le Deuxieme sexe / The Second Sex" in 1949 became a seminal work for many feminists.
Her novel of postwar Paris, "Les Mandarins/The Mandarins" in 1954, has characters resembling the writers Camus, Koestler, and Sartre.
She also published autobiographical volumes.
