Siger of Brabant (1240-1282) was a Medieval philosopher, a follower of Averroes, who taught at the University of Paris, and whose distinguishing between reason and Christian faith led to his works being condemned as heretical in 1270.
He refused to recant and was imprisoned. He was murdered while in prison.
