Salman Rushdie was born on June 19, 1947, in Bombay, India. His grandfather was a well-known Urdu poet. From his childhood, he had been strongly influenced by literature.

In his teenages, Salman Rushdie moved to England for studying at the Rugby School, Warwickshire. After that, he entered the King's College. After graduating, he worked for popular ad companies as a copywriter.
