Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008) was a creator of happenings (art in live performance) and incongruous multimedia works such as Monogram in 1959 (Moderna Museet, Stockholm), a car tyre around the body of a stuffed goat daubed with paint.
Rauschenberg also produced collages. In the 1960s he returned to painting and used the silk-screen printing process to transfer images to canvas.
