Robert Penn Warren (1905-1989) was an American poet and novelist, the only author to receive a Pulitzer prize for both prose and poetry.

His novel All the King's Men in 1946 was modelled on the career of Huey Long, and he won Pulitzer prizes for Promises in 1968 and Now and Then: Poems 1976-1978.
