Robert Gordon Menzies (1894-1978) was a Australian politician, leader of the United Australia and prime minister (1939-1941) and (1949-1966).
Short Biography:
A Melbourne lawyer, he entered politics in 1928, was attorney-general in the federal parliament (1934-1939), and in 1939 succeeded Joseph Lyons as prime minister and leader of the United Australia Party, until 1941, when he resigned after colleagues were dissatisfied with his leadership of Australia's war effort.
