Nana Sahib popular name for Dandhu Panth (1820-c. 1859), adopted son of a former peshwa (chief minister) of the people of Mahrattas in central India.

Short Biography:

He joined the rebels in the Indian Mutiny (1857-1858), and was responsible for the massacre at Kanpur when safe conducts given to British civilians were broken and many women and children massacred. After the failure of the mutiny he took refuge in Nepal.
