Montagu Norman, 1st Baron Nonnan (1871-1950) was Governor of the Bank of England (1920-1944).

Short Biography:

He handled German reparations (financial compensation exacted by the Allies) after World War I, and, by his advocacy of a return to the gold standard in 1925 and other policies, was held by many to have contributed to the economic depression of the 1930s.
