Mikhail Bakunin (1814-1876) was an Russian anarchist, active in Europe.

Short Biography:

In 1848 he was expelled from France as a revolutionary agitator.

In Switzerland in the 1860s he became recognized as the leader of the anarchist movement.

In 1869 he joined the First International (a coordinating socialist body) but, after stormy conflicts with Karl Marx, was expelled 1872.
