Merce Cunningham (1919-2009) was an American dancer and choreographer.

Short Biography:

Influenced by Martha Graham, with whose company he was soloist from 1939-1945; he formed his own dance company and school in New York in 1953.

His works include The Seasons in 1947, Antic Meet in 1958, Squaregame in 1976, and Arcade in 1985.
