Katsura Taro (1847-1913) was Prince of Japan, army officer, politician, and prime minister.

Short Biography:

During his first term as prime minister (1901-1906), he was responsible for the Anglo-Japanese treaty of 1902, the successful prosecution of the war against Russia (1904-1905), and the annexation of Korea in 1910.

Having assisted in the Meiji restoration (1866-1868), Katsura became increasingly involved in politics.
