John Hoyer Updike (1932-2009) was associated with the New Yorker magazine from 1955, he soon established a reputation for polished prose, poetry, and criticism.
Short Biography:
His novels include Couples 1968 and Rogers Version 1986 and deal with contemporary US middle-class life.
Two characters recur in his work: the basketball player 'Rabbit' Angstrom (introduced in Rabbit, Run 1960) and the novelist Henry Bech.
