John III was born on 20 December in the year 1537 and he lived until 17 November 1592. He was chosen to be the King of Sweden from 1568 until his death.

His parents were King Gustav I of Sweden and his second wife Margaret Leijonhufvud. He was also quite autonomously the ruler of Finland as Duke John in the period of time 1556 - 1563.
