James Hopwood Jeans (1877-1946) was a British mathematician and scientist.

Short Biography:

In physics, he contributed work on the kinetic theory of gases, and forms of energy radiation; and in astronomy, on giant and dwarf stars, the nature of spiral nebulae, and the origin of the cosmos. He also did much to popularize astronomy.
