James Baldwin (1924-1987) was an American writer, born in Harlem, New York, who portrayed the condition of black Americans in contemporary society.

Short Biography:

His works include the novels "Go Tell It on the Mountain" in 1953, "Another Country" in 1962, and "Just Above My Head" in 1979; the play "The Amen Corner" in 1955; and the autobiographical essays "Notes of a Native Son" in 1955 and "The Fire Next Time" in 1963.
