Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) was a German romantic poet and journalist, who wrote Reisebilder (1826) and Buch der Lieder / Book of Songs (1827).
Short Biography:
From 1831 he lived mainly in Paris, as a correspondent for German newspapers-Schubert and Schumann set many of his songs to music.
In 1835, he headed a list of writers forbidden to publish in Germany. He contracted a spinal disease in 1845, which confined him to his bed from 1848 until his death.
