Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was an Danish writer.
Short Biography:
His fairy tales such as "The Ugly Duckling", "The Emperor's New Clothes", and "The Snow Queen", gained him international fame and have been translated into many languages.
Andersen was born the son of a shoemaker in Odense, Fyn. His first children's stories were published 1835.
