Godfrey Kneller (1646-1723) was a German-born painter, who lived in England from 1674.
Short Biography:
He was court portraitist to Charles II, James II, William III, and George I.
His work includes the series Hampton Court Beauties (Hampton Court, Richmond, Surrey, a sequel to Lely's Windsor Beauties), and 48 portraits of die members of the Whig Kit Cat Club (1702-1717) (National Portrait Gallery, London).
