Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874-1936) was a English novelist, essayist, and satirical poet, author of a series of novels featuring the naive priest-detective "Father Brown".

Short Biography:

Other novels include The Napoleon of Notting Hill in 1904 and The Man Who Knew Too Much in 1922.

Born in London, he studied art but quickly turned to journalism. Like Hilaire Belloc he was initially a Socialist sympathizer and joined the Catholic Church in 1922.
