George Stubbs (1724-1806), after the publication of his book of engravings The Anatomy of the Horse in 1766, he was widely commissioned as an animal painter and group portraitist.
Short Biography:
Stubbs began as a portrait painter and medical illustrator in Liverpool. In 1754 he went to Rome, continuing to study nature and anatomy. Before settling in London in the 1760s he rented a farm and carried out a long series of dissections of horses which resulted in his book.
