George Biddell Airy was born on July 27, 1801 in Alnwick, Northumberland, England and died on January 2, 1892 in Greenwich, London, England at age 90.
Short Biography:
At Greenwich he installed a transit telescope for accurately measuring time by the stars. The position of this instrument defines the Greenwich meridian, internationally accepted as the line of zero longitude in 1884.
