Frederick V known as the Winter King (1596-1632) was the Elector palatine of the Rhine 1610-1623 and king of Bohemia 1619-1620 (for one winter, hence the name "winter king"), having been chosen by the Protestant Bohemians as ruler after the deposition of Catholic emperor Ferdinand II.
