Frederick Marryat (1792-1848) was a British naval officer and novelist, popularly known as Captain Marryat from his naval rank.
Short Biography:
He resigned from the Royal Navy in 1830 after the success of his first novel, Frank Mildmay.
He wrote a number of popular adventure stories, including Peter Simple in 1834, Mr. Midshipman Easy in 1836, and a series of children's books, of which the best known is Children of the New Forest in 1847.
