Federico Garcia Lorca (1898-1936) was a Spanish poet and playwright, born in Granada.

Short Biography:

Romancero gitano/Gipsy Ballad-book (1928) shows the influence of the Andalusian songs of the area.

In 1929-30 Lorca visited New York, and his experiences are reflected in Poeta en Nuevo York (1940). He returned to Spain, founded a touring theatrical company, and wrote plays such as Bodas de sangre/Blood Wedding (1933) and La casa de Bernardo Alba/The House of Bernardo Alba (1936).
