David Roberts (1796-1864) progressed from interior decorator to scene painter at Drury Lane Theatre, London, while making a name for himself with picturesque views of London and French cathedrals.
Short Biography:
From 1831 he travelled to Europe and the Middle East producing topographical views. Many of these were published in books including the six-volume The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt & Nubia (1842-1849).
