Charles Howard, 2nd Baron Howard of Effingham and 1st Earl of Nottingham (1536-1624) was an English admiral, a cousin of Queen Elizabeth I.

He commanded the fleet against the Spanish Armada while Lord High Admiral (1585-1618). He cooperated with the Earl of Essex in the attack on Cadiz in 1596.
