Arthur Koestler (1905-1983) was a Hungarian author. Imprisoned by the Nazis in France 1940, he escaped to England.

Short Biography:

His novel Darkness at Noon (1941) is a fictional account of the Stalinist purges, and draws on his experiences as a prisoner under sentence of death during the Spanish Civil War. He also wrote extensively about creativity, para psychology, politics, and culture. He committed suicide with his wife.
