Aaron Douglas was an African American Painter, who was born on the 26th May, 1898. He was a Topeka native. He completed his graduation from the Topeka High School, in 1917. In 1922, He received his bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 1925, Douglas shifted to New York and started working with the magazines called, "The Crisis", and, "Opportunity".
