William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951) was an American newspaper proprietor, celebrated for his introduction of banner headlines, lavish illustration, and the sensationalist approach known as "yellow journalism".
A campaigner in numerous controversies, and a strong isolationist, he was said to be the model for Citizen Kane in the film of that name by Orson Welles.
