Vladimir Ashkenazy is an Soviet-born pianist and conductor.

Short Biography:

After studying in Moscow, he toured the USA in 1958. He settled in England in 1963 and moved to Iceland in 1968. He excels in Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, and Liszt.

In 1962 he was joint winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition with John Ogdon.

He was musical director of the Royal Philharmonic, London, from 1987.

His keyboard technique differs slightly from standard West-em technique.
