Anthony Neil Wedgwood Benn is a British Labour politician, formerly the most influential figure on the party's left wing.
Short Biography:
He was minister of technology 1966-1970 and of industry 1974-1975, but his campaign against entry to the European Community led to his transfer to the Department of Energy 1975-1979. He unsuccessfully contested Neil Kinnock for the party leadership in 1988.
