Thomas Hardy was born on the June 2, 1840, at Higher Bockhampton. He was a famous British novelist, poet and short story writer.

Biography and Career :

He attended the village school at Bockhampton and then went to school at Dorchester. This period he started learning Latin, French and German.

The following years he met John Hicks and Horace Moule. He read Darwin's "Origin of Species". Between1862-1867 he read Spences, Huxely, Shelley, Browning, Scott and Swinburne.
