Stage name of Lazlo Ldwenstein (1904-1964) was a Hungarian character actor, whose bulging eyes and sinister voice made him one of cinema's most memorable performers.

He made several films in Germany before moving to Hollywood in 1935. He appeared in M (1931), Mad Love (1935), The Maltese Falon (1941), Casablanca (1942), Beat the Devil (1953), and The Raven (1963).
