Martha Graham (1894-1991) was an American choreographer.
Short Biography:
An innovative exponent of modem dance, she had a major influence on choreographers in the contemporary dance movement such as Robert Cohan, Glen Tetley, Norman Morrice, Paul Taylor, and Robert North.
She created over 150 ballets, including Appalachian Spring in 1944 (score by Aaron Copland) and Clytemnestra in 1958 (music by Halim El-Dabh), the first full-length modem dance work.
