Jean Chretien (born in 1934) is a French-Canadian politician, prime minister from 1993.

Short Biography:

He won the leadership of the Liberal Party in 1990 and defeated Kim Campbell in the October 1993 election.

He has been a vigorous advocate of national unity and, although himself a Quebecois, has consistendy opposed the province's separatist ambitions.
