Alexandre César Léopold Bizet (1838-1875) was a French composer of operas, among them "Les Picheurs de perleslThe Pearl Fishers" in 1863, and "La jolie Fille de Perth/The Fair Maid of Perth" in 1866.

Short Biography:

He also wrote the concert overture Patrie and incidental music to Daudet's L'Arlesienne. His operatic masterpiece Carmen was produced a few months before his death in 1875.
