Eugene James Martin was born on July 24, 1938 in Washington DC and he was a famous African American contemporary visual artist. His art is imaginative and playful, ranging from complex mixed media collages on paper, pencil and pen and ink drawings, and paintings on paper and canvas that may incorporate whimsical allusions to animal, machine and structural imagery among areas of pure, constructed or biomorph abstraction.
