Eamon de Valera (1882-1975) was a Irish nationalist politician, prime minister of the Republic of Ireland 1932-1948, 1951-1954, and 1957-1959, and president 1959-1973.

Short Biography:

Repeatedly imprisoned, he participated in the Easter Rising in 1916 and was leader of the nationalist Sinn Fern party 1917-1926, when he formed the republican Fianna Fait, he directed negotiations with Britain in 1921 but refused to accept the partition of Ireland until in 1937.
