Archibald MacLeish (1892-1982) was an American poet.

Short Biography:

He made his name with the poem "Conquistador" in 1932, which describes Corts' march to the Aztec capital, but his later plays in verse, Panic in 1935 and Air Raid in 1938, deal with contemporary problems.

He was born in Illinois, was assistant secretary of state (1944-1945), and helped to draft the constitution of UNESCO.
